Classroom of the Elite is a light novel series written by Shōgo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose, published from May 2015 to September 2019 under MF Bunko J Imprint. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Shia Sasane, began serialization in December 2021.
Classroom of the Elite (Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e, lit. “Welcome to the Classrooms Where Merit is Paramount”) is set in an era of fostering nationalism and patriotism. The Japanese government established a high school dedicated to instructing and fostering a generation of students to support the country in the future. The story focuses on the perspective of one of the “inferior” students, who soon finds out how merit-based the education system is, and how this realization became a catalyst for change.
